Interview with Jodie Wolfe

Where did you grow up and attend school? Are there any other authors in your family?

I grew up in the Hershey, PA area. Can you smell the chocolate? On a good day when in town, you can. J I attended college at Shippensburg University.

As for authors in the family, there is a distant relative on my mom's side who also wrote.

How did you get started writing? How old were you? What made you want to start? What did you enjoy reading as a child?

LOL. I can't remember a time where I didn't write. I remember my first writing assignment. I was in second grade and we were to come up with a poem. I wrote mine about my favorite thing at the time. Snoopy. I still remember it to this day…but I won't recite it for you. J Soon after I started writing my first stories.

As a child I loved reading the Little House in the Prairie series, Trixie Beldon, and Nancy Drew.

How and when did you and your husband meet? Was it love at first sight? What does he think about your being an author?

I met my husband while we were in college. We both served on an evangelism committee. Our first meeting was held off campus and since I had a car, I was designated to go pick up the two guys who needed a ride and bring them to the meeting. It wasn't love at first sight.

He supports every aspect of my writing and prays for it daily. He's my hero.

How old are your children? Do they read your books? Have any of them got the writing bug, as well?

My boys are 25 and 22. Both are married and I have three grandchildren with another on the way.

Neither of them have read my stories, but they both have had an interest in writing, or at least while they were home and I was home schooling them they did. J

How do you research the communities and people you write about? Do you find yourself having do a lot of research?

Most times I make up a fictional town, but it usually is based on a specific area of the country. It all depends on whether I plan to write a story set in the Old West or on the East coast where I live. I don't typically write about 'real' people in case I happen to miss something in my research and get something wrong.

Sometimes I do a lot of research. It all depends on what project I'm working on. But it never is a chore, because I find that I love learning about history.

Which is your favorite book? Do you have a character in your books you identify with the most?

It's too hard to pick a favorite book because I've read so many through the years.

LOL. There always is a little something in each of my characters that I can identify with.

Back Cover Blurb:

Mae Stafford longs for the companionship and unconditional love her sister has found in her new husband. But after years of refusing potential suitors because of a pact they made as children, Mae no longer has any choices left once their agreement is broken. She's given up hope that God will give her what she desires most, a family of her own. Instead of dwelling on what she doesn't have, she throws herself into her work as the recent sole owner of the local dress shop.

As a promise made to his late wife, Johannes Mueller agrees to travel west to be a school teacher in Calder Springs, Texas, away from the bigotry associated with being an immigrant in New York City. He hopes to improve his life and forget his loss. Johannes isn't counting on his five-year-old daughter's search for a new mother when they arrive. His little LillyAnn finds ways to bring the seamstress and him together…often. Can he learn to embrace his German heritage and unlock his heart to love again?
