What Does an Author and Heroine Have in Common? by Jodie Wolfe and #giveaway

What Does an Author and Heroine Have in Common?
By Jodie Wolfe

Penny dreadfuls and dime novels were popular novels in the nineteenth century. The penny dreadfuls originated in England while the dime novels came about in the United States. The dime novels were typically aimed at the working class. Sometimes the books appeared as weekly installments in magazines during the time period.

I always thought it would be fun to create a heroine who wrote dime novels. Then I threw in the twist of having my character, Essie Love, depend on her writing as the source of income to support her and her sisters. She runs in a snafu in that the weekly papers she's writes for has gone out of business, and she's desperate to come up with a new story idea. Then add in the bank giving her two months to pay off the note on their home or lose it and you have the makings of An Angel for the Cowboy. There's another twist or two that's making it difficult for her to write, but you'll have to read the story to find out more. :)

When Celebrate Lit Publishing contacted me asking if I would be part of a historical romance collection, I readily agree. The book, Let Love Spring released on April 5th. Right now it's available only as an ebook, but it will likely be in print before long too.

While I don't depend on my writing to pay our bills, both Essie Love and I have a love of writing. I hope you'll pick up a copy of Let Love Spring to learn more.

Jodie is very graciously giving away a copy of her story Hearts Tightly Knit to one commenter. Please leave contact information.

Blurb:
An Angel for the Cowboy

When the bank threatens foreclosure on Essie Love's home, it's up to her to provide for her sisters. She’ll do whatever it takes to save them, even if it means marrying a stranger.

Jud Steele is wanted for a crime he didn't commit. Wounded and left for dead, he lands on Essie's doorstep. While she nurses him back to health, he finds himself longing for a home and family.

Can two desperate people find a path that leads to what they both need?

It's always interesting to see how an author comes up with a story. I read an ARC of Let Love Spring for the Celebrate Lit tour of their new publication. Each story set in a different era with romance.

i like the idea of the story - a young lady writing dime novels to help support herself and her sister. Love the imagination behind this!
