Q & A with Carrie Stuart Parks and GIVEAWAY!!!!

Leave a comment (include contact information) to be entered into a giveaway for an autographed copy of this book

What is your current work in progress?

I’m writing the third book in the Gwen Marcey series, about a forensic artist and the Eastern Kentucky, Pentecostal snake handlers.

What are your hobbies, besides writing and reading?

I raise and show Great Pyrenees dogs. I’m also an AKC judge.

What advice would you give to a beginning author?

Be flexible and teachable. Keep learning and grow thick skin.

Tell us about The Bones Will Speak– a brief blurb:

When Gwen Marcey’s dog comes home with a human skull and then leads her to a cabin in the woods near her Montana home, she realizes there’s a serial killer in her community. And when she finds a tortured young girl clinging to life on the cabin floor, she knows this killer is a lunatic.
Yet what unsettles Gwen most is that the victim looks uncannily like her daughter.
The search for the torturer leads back in time to a neo-Nazi bombing in Washington state—a bombing with only one connection to Montana: Gwen. The group has a race-not-grace model of salvation . . . and they’ve marked Gwen as a race traitor.
When it becomes clear that the killer has a score to settle, Gwen finds herself in a battle against time. She will have to use all of her forensic skills to find the killer before he can carry out his threat to destroy her—and the only family she has left.

Is there one particular message or “moral of the story” you hope readers walk away with?

The story is about, ultimately, forgiveness.

Tell us about your research process.

The story is about a Phineas Priesthood serial killer. It is based on several of the cases I worked as a forensic artist. I was the composite sketch artist on Spokane’s Phineas Priesthood case as well as the Yates serial killer. I also was the courtroom artist for the Aryan Nations case. I reviewed my materials and read a number of books about the Christian Identity movement.

Where do you like to write?

I sit in the living room with the computer on my lap. When I travel, I write on the road.

How do you choose between ideas you’d like to write about?

I run my ideas past my agent and editor. They pick the one they are interested in.

Has there been a time in your own life where you could really sense God was putting you in a situation for a reason?

Yes, when I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer.

Where can readers find you online?

Hi Carrie,

So fun to explore your plot and learn a bit about you. You remarkable career incites all kinds of questions, but I'll just share one. What motivated you to start writing novels, and how long have you been at it? Well, maybe that's two. And here's another. I'd like to hear more about that diagnosis stage of your life and how it affected your writing.

Thanks so much! Would love to win your story. gkittleson at myomnitel dot com

Carrie,
You are an amazing author and person. I met Carrie last year at the ACFW when I stumbled into a seminar. I was about to meet an editor and scared witless. She patted my hand and listened to my elevator pitch. I've loved that precious person since.

I lived in Moscow, ID for seven years and learned there was a huge Aryan Nations movement in the Priest Lake area. And a good suspense, who can resist that? nashpredsfan@yahoo.com.

I used to live in Moscow, ID (about 80 miles from Spokane). When I first moved there, I was surprised to learn about the large Aryan Nations population around Priest Lake. And who can resist a great suspense story? nashpredsfan@yahoo.com

I've already read a NetGalley copy of this book, but I'd love to win a printed copy. Carrie, you kept me up with your nail-biting story!
We connected ever-so-briefly when I first joined the ACFW large critique group and was able to comment of the first chapter of this book. From that short contact, I knew this would be a book I needed to read.
I am fascinated by your career, and your expertise adds immensely to the realism of your plots and characters. I'm afraid my book budget is going to be stretched past boundaries, because I simply must read your first Gwen Macey book and well as the next one, when it comes out. :)

I've not read any of your books yet as you are a new author to me but from the looks of your book cover I am intrigued already. Reading about your background makes me want to read it even more. Hope I win a copy. If not, I will be sure to get it anyway. clarkkc@embarqmail.com Kathleen
