What happens on Christmas Eve while children sleep? "Their stockings are filled up with candy and toys, and happy surprises for good girls and boys." A kindhearted man hid a gift in a stocking, long ago. He did it to "remind everyone of the Gift that God sent." Christmas stockings help us remember God's love.

My thoughts;  This is an adorable shaped book for young children! It tells the story of St. Nicholas but leaves out that he was actually a missionary. I do like how the author ties it in with Christ's birth and how St. Nicholas didn't set out to become Santa Claus (or any other name he goes by) but he did it to celebrate Jesus and the gift He gave us by coming as a baby.  Recommended for the younger set. Great for bedtime stories for your favorite preschool child this Christmas season.

The Legend of the Christmas Cookie: Sharing the True Meaning of Christmas

The Legend of the Christmas Cookie tells the story of a young boy named Jack who learns from his generous mother the story behind the Christmas cookie. The family who began the tradition of baking the special cookies gave them to the needy and shared the story of the very first Christmas. This sweet holiday book offers inspiration for readers to become cheerful givers themselves and encourages them to share the true tale of Jesus' birth. A delicious recipe is included on the jacket flap so readers can make their own Christmas sugar cookies.

My thoughts: This is the cutest Christmas story, second only to The Legend of the Candy Cane also by this same author.  Fans of Christmas story books will absolutely love this book!  It shares a legend on how Christmas cookies came to be, and recipes for making some, in addition to a lovely heart-warming tale involving a little boy named Jack.  My children and I both loved this book. Highly recommended. This will be one for the keeper shelf, right next to The Legend of the Candy Cane.
