But has this self-proclaimed dog whisperer finally met her match in a Sheltie named Remington who has just won the Texas state agility course competition? The champion pooch is acting out of sorts—almost as if he is not the same dog. Has he, by chance, been switched out with another dog just before the next big competition? Kristin and the other Lone Star employees will do anything to help the Atkinson family figure out this mystery surrounding their beloved Remington.

My thoughts: This is a fast-paced cozy mystery filled with humor, good friends, a tight family, dogs, and plenty of fun. What do you get when a prize-winning dog is kidnapped? In this case, a group of vets and dog rescuer workers following leads to find the missing dog. This opens the doors for them to do a lot of community service, building good-will, witnessing, and finding homes for displaced, depressed senior dogs and more. If you love dogs or cozy mysteries and close southern families and friends you will love BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE. It was rather dizzying at times as I struggled to keep up with them. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.
