Stevie is a young woman trying to come to terms with giving her baby up for adoption after being raped as a teenager. She numbs her pain with alcohol and a quick marriage. Two children follow, but the marriage is abusive, leaving Stevie a weary single mother.
After years of infertility, Annie and Joe believe their lives are complete when they adopt Zoey, a beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed girl. Their perfect family unit isn’t quite as it seems when Zoey is colicky and Annie gives all her attention to their daughter. Joe, feeling neglected, is unfaithful.
