Addicted to Counterfeit Love

Title: ADDICTED TO COUNTERFEIT LOVE
Author: Vikki Johnson
Publisher: Kimani Press
October 2007
ISBN: 978-0-373-83038-1
Genre: Inspirational/relationships

ADDICTED TO COUNTERFEIT LOVE is an educational book that will teach readers about the different kinds of ‘love’ out there and why they are not healthy. Ms. Johnson will show us about how some women:

. are unable to let go of the past
. has a fantasy relationship
. think that love is sex
. are codependent
. are over nurturing
Etc.

She also goes on to show us what real lasting love looks like.

The stories told about each kind of counterfeit love are fascinating and educational. Plus she goes into a few paragraphs about what is unhealthy about the relationship and gives you a work space to write your own thoughts about what you learned and answer a few questions.

Ms. Johnson even shares her own personal counterfeit love stories at the end of the book, and while she has a lot of valuable information in this book, I was unable to find any indication that she practiced what she preaches. She mentions a child, but I couldn’t find any information about a husband and a lasting marriage.

Nevertheless, if you have a teen, or a young adult making unhealthy decisions about a mate, or being rather cavalier about their relationships, then ADDICTED TO COUNTERFEIT LOVE would be an excellent resource for them and might help them learn what real love is based on. $14.95 256 pages.
