One Little Secret

Title: ONE LITTLE SECRET
Author: Allison Bottke
Publisher: Bethany House
August 2007
ISBN: 0-7642-0058-5
Genre: Inspirational/women’s fiction

Ursula Rhoades is a housewife, content with her life as wife to successful, soon-to-be-made partner of the law firm, Don, and mom to two grown children, Victor, and Valerie. Ursula is facing the empty nest for the first time, and she and Don had made plans to go on a second honeymoon to celebrate—when Don has to go away for months to work on a huge law case.

Ursula wants to take voice lessons from a world famous opera singer, but Don is less than supportive of her desires. When world famous rock singer hears Ursula sing at a wedding, he wants her to work with him on a duet project. But Ursula doesn’t want to get involved…

When Nic finally talks Ursula into at least making a demo with him to see how it sounds, Ursula is thrilled. Nothing will come of it, but an invitation to record with a pop star is the stuff dreams are made of. But this one little secret is going to change Ursula’s life…

ONE LITTLE SECRET is Allison Bottke’s second book, and it’s a winner. This is easily the best book I’ve read so far in 2008 and it will be hard to top this one. Ursula is a wonderful heroine, a supportive wife, an awesome mother, giving up her own dreams for her family—and can’t all mother’s identify with that? Her family takes her for granted, and her husband even tells her to take up some little hobby, but when she wants voice lessons, he doesn’t want to waste money on her.

I totally loved this story. There is nothing about the book that I didn’t like, except that it ended. I’d like to have read more. I’m looking forward to reading many more books by this talented author. If you read one book in 2008, make sure that you pick up ONE LITTLE SECRET. $12.99. 334 pages.
