The Big Picture

Author: Jenny B. Jones

2008
ISBN: 978-1-60006-208-7
Genre: Inspirational/young adult

Katie Parker thought life was finally starting to even out. She is dating the cutest boy in her school, her foster mom is responding to cancer treatments, her foster grandparent is getting married… but then it all comes to a crashing halt.

Katie’s boyfriend is spending more time with an old-flame than he is with Katie. Her mother is released from prison and fighting to get custody of her daughter – and looks like she is succeeding. And the teen hangout in In Between is in danger of being shut down by a major who only sees dollar signs.

As Katie’s life takes a serious nose-dive, Katie must rely on her faith to keep it all together. Yet God seems to be taking a long vacation. Can Katie trust God to see her through—and will the big picture include a happily-ever-after?

THE BIG PICTURE is the third book in the Katie Parker Production series. I had the privilege of reading book one in the series, but not book two. I was hoping to read the books in order, but I never did get my hands on the second book in the series. However, this is a book that easily stands alone. I didn’t feel lost at all when I picked up the book and started to read.

I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Katie and go through her ups-and-downs with her—and even learned a thing or two in the process. I have learned some devastating news right before starting this book, and like Katie, I have to learn to trust God to see me through. It was good that God took the time to remind me, through fiction, that He is the one in charge of THE BIG PICTURE. Don’t miss this book. $12.99. 375 pages.
