Caleb Bender’s family is still struggling to adjust to life
in the Mexican wilderness. More Amish families have joined them, and babies are
being born, but the bandits are still a threat, especially after a powerful man
dies. Suddenly the most dangerous bandit in Mexico is threatening the Amish,
stealing from them and injuring them.
When diphtheria strikes the Amish community, two members of
the Bender family are taken ill. Desperate for help, Rachel and her brother
Aaron travel to town to a doctor to see if he can save the lives of their
sister Ada and
their nephew Amos. But tragedy strikes and everything changes. The Bender’s
hired hand, Domingo rides out to hopefully save them. Miriam Bender will have
an impossible decision to make. Will anything be alright again?
THE CAPTIVE HEART is the second book in the The Daughters of Caleb Bender series.
Readers will have to read the first book in the series Paradise Valley first to be brought up to speed in the
story. This series is inspired by real life events, by a real Amish community in
Mexico .
I have to say this book was a tear-jerker. And it kept me up
all night since I had to know what
happened. This book—series, so far—takes you to the edge of your emotions.
Characters you care for, and characters you love to hate. A griping storyline. Five stars, but read it with a box of tissues
nearby. $6.00. 350 pages.

Thank you for the review. As a rule I don't enjoy historical fiction quite as much, but am sure this is one I'll read. Blessings, Susan Fryman susanngarrylee@yahoo.com
