A Place of Peace

Title: A PLACE OF PEACE
Author: Amy Clipson

ISBN: 978-0-310-31995-5
Genre: Inspirational/Amish

Miriam Lapp fled her Amish community five years before, heartbroken. She’d just found out that her boyfriend, Timothy Kauffman had been cheating on her, and the baby she watched during the day died of SIDS. The community blamed her for the baby’s death.

Now Miriam has received news that her mamm died. She goes home for the funeral, but her daed makes it clear that she’s not welcome. Not only that but Miriam finds out that Timothy Kauffman has moved on and he’d asked another girl to marry him.

Timothy Kauffman has pined over Miriam for five years, believing that she’d been the one who’d been cheating on him. Now she’s home and he’s determined to put her behind him once and for all. But how can he do that when the past has so many unanswered questions? And what if the answers aren’t what he wants to hear?

A PLACE OF PEACE is the third book in Ms. Clipston’s Kauffman Amish Bakery Series. This book stands alone, but it does refer back to earlier books in this series which all centered around the Kauffman family.

I enjoyed reading Miriam and Timothy’s story, but felt bad about all the misunderstandings that kept them apart, and the judgments that came down mostly on Miriam’s head. I sympathized with them and hoped that they’d be able to move past their history and find a future together.

Some yummy sounding recipes are included in this book, and discussion questions are included at the end of the book. If you are looking for a great new Amish fiction, then pick up A PLACE OF PEACE. This is a great read. $12.99. 330 pages.
