Title: GOD IS ABLE
Author: Priscilla Shirer
Publisher: Broadman & Holman
September 2013
ISBN:  978-1433681912
Genre: Nonfiction / Christian Life / Women’s Issues

Got an IMPOSSIBLE situation? The anxiety it brings can wake you in the middle of a needed night’s sleep and then stalk you in the middle of broad daylight. It can sneak up on you and cast a cloak of fear and concern over your shoulders that you can’t seem to shake no matter how hard you try. It can take you down. Squash all hope. Stop you in your tracks.

IMPOSSIBLE. IMPENETRABLE. UNCHANGEABLE. Maybe so . . . until God gets involved. No matter the details of your circumstance, His raw power potential and immeasurable ability refuse to cower in the face of any challenge. Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing. Not even that thing.

This is the uplifting, well-reasoned answer from New York Times best-selling author Priscilla Shirer—not a denial of life’s adversities and troubles, but a biblical reminder that God is always up to great things, even when His great things are greater then instant remedies and visible change. He is a God who cares . . . and a God who CAN. Believe it. Experience it. God Is Able.

GOD IS ABLE. This is something I had to learn time and time again. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer. When our drain field had to be replaced and we didn’t have that kind of money. When my husband had to have dentures and we didn’t have money for that. Time and time again I would lay awake fretting and stewing and worrying and yet, God came through. Because GOD IS ABLE.

Written in a friendly, approachable style, Ms. Shirer engaged me completely as a reader. I was sent this book to review (by the publisher) and didn’t currently have an It to talk about. You know, the big issue that has you picking up the book. I had just come out of another scare where God came through. But I had to keep reading. This book will be useful for anyone facing something that they are stressing about whether God can handle it or not, or well, anyone to have on their shelves or church library shelves, because we’ll all face those times over and over and over when we can’t completely hand it over to God.

Great book. Highly recommended. $12.99. 176 pages. 5 stars.

I KNOW that God Is Able. Why oh why can't I leave a family situation in God's hands and let HIM? I thought I had. I woke at 3:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I just simply don't understand why this happened to me. It happened 14 months ago and it wasn't until 7 months ago that I found out why other family members were saying nasty stuff about me on FB. Until then I didn't have a clue. Imagine my shock when I found out I was accused of saying things that never ever came out of my mouth. Until yesterday I thought I had turned it over to God. I guess it is the deep hurt that makes me ask why, why, why.

Blessings!

I have done one of her Bible studies and know how good her books are. I'd love to win this not only for myself but so I could pass it along after reading to Christian Library International who would send it for placement in a chaplain's library within a women's prison. Consider the possibilities there for those who know God is Able!

Sounds like an interesting book. I know that I am not at a spot where I can leave things up to God. I want them done MY way LOL
