When past and present collide, God still has a plan

Join attorney Alanna Stone as she returns home despite her determination to never set foot on Mackinac Island again. Once again in close proximity to Jonathan Covington, her first love, she vows to protect her privacy and her heart from the man who still makes her pulse race. But when her worst fears are realized and history repeats itself—landing her in the midst of a murder investigation—Jonathan may be her only hope. Will they be able to lay aside the past and let God heal their hearts, or will reconciliation come too late?

A WEDDING TRANSPIRES ON MACKINAC ISLAND is an older book, still available on ebook or from third party sellers. I got it off www.paperbackswap.com because I wanted to read the book set on Mackinac Island. I was not required to write a review.

The lighthouse on the cover is NOT on Mackinac Island. The only light there currently is accessible only by boat, off the Mackinac Island. Without looking it up, I think it is called Round Island. The lighthouse pictured is on the other side of the Straits, in Mackinaw City. I have actually been there. Walked the grounds.

The story itself is slow, predicable and somewhat boring. Alanna is an attorney, home to "save" her dad's business after a stroke -- only long enough to hire temporary help. She hopes not to meet her former boyfriend, or anyone else she knows since her brother was involved in a murder case...

But things are not as they seem. Her mother's paintings are "off."  and other things don't make sense...  A slight mystery and a romance on modern day Mackinac Island. If you can't go in person (like me) you can travel via the pages of this book.  Squeaky clean for more conservative readers.

3 stars.
