Miriam Troyer has had a secret crush on Mark Byler since she was a teenager, but she knows they can never have a relationship: Mark is a big-city attorney and an Englischer. Her Amish community is too far removed from all he knows---and she loves her quiet way of life.

Mark has always loved his visits to his grandfather's farm, but he's convinced the Amish life isn't for him. There's so much of the world to see and experience, and the excitement of his successful law practice can't be matched by the slow pace of life found back home in the country.

But when things go wrong and his associates at the firm distance themselves from him to try to save their careers, Mark finds himself back at his grandfather's farm. Could life in this simple world be worth living after all? Especially when the teenager he remembers has grown into a woman who could be his future. Suddenly these two people whose lives seem so far apart may get a chance to really see each other for the first time.

"Barbara Cameron is a talented author and she always
gives the Amish and their culture the highest respect."
---RT Book Reviews, 4 stars for Home to Paradise

My thoughts: SEEDS OF HOPE is the first book of Ms. Cameron newest series. I'm glad she found  a new publisher after Abingdon Presses fiction line closed down.  I've read almost all of Ms. Cameron's books, and this one is formula romance/Amish. That translates into being rather predictable and makes me believe that possibly this was an earlier book Ms. Cameron wrote that didn't sell until now (but I don't know if this is true).  I've read much better books by her.

SEEDS OF HOPE is slow, but it does show you how busy the quiet Amish life is. As the oldest Troyer child, Miriam has a lot on her plate. In addition to carrying for nine younger siblings, she teaches school, cares for an elderly Amish man who lives nearby, and does the usual chores on an Amish farm.

Mark is not Amish, but a cruel twist of fate sends him to live with his widowed grandfather (who is Amish) and help with the farm work which is too much for the older man. But Mark doesn't want to give up his fast paced, high-profile world, complete with a high-maintenance girlfriend and a very well paying job.

He and Miriam are friends since they were young teens, so they're renewed friendship felt natural.
