Take it Easy by Jenna V. Hilton

Psalm 46:1 (KJV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

My pit bull lab mix, Skye, likes walks. She’s a bit of a handful, but we both get exercised. When we come home, Skye does the most dramatic thing: she flops on the ground and starts panting really hard like the dramatic animal she is. We get a kick out of it, and Skye enjoys the attention.

Skye knows she can lay anywhere in the house, (except Mom's bed) and she takes advantage of this privilege.

We have a place to rest, too. When we’re tired after a long day, we can come to Jesus and let him carry us for awhile. It’s hard to do sometimes, but we need to remember that we can always rest in the arms of Jesus.

It’s an act of humility sometimes, admitting that for all our work we need God's help. But it’s a necessary step in our daily lives. Communion and time with God is important for Christian growth.  A lot of times, we get caught up in what we need to do in a day. Those house hold chores that CAN’T wait anymore, the laundry basket overflowing. But we can multi-task. Pray while cooking, recite verses when we’re stressed.

Communion with God doesn’t always mean hiding away somewhere and fasting. And while private time with God is important and sometimes necessary, we just don’t have time for that every day. God is a great stress reliever, and he’s WAY more accessible than essential oils!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for always being there. Help us to remember you’re always there to help us out. In Jesus Name, Amen.
