Remembering Christmas

Title: REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS
Author: Dan Walsh
Publisher: Revell
September 2011
ISBN: 978-0-8007-1979-1
Genre: Inspirational/contemporary/Christmas

Rick Denton is an accountant, who lives his life on his own terms. He works hard, plays hard, and answers to no one. He is planning on going skiing with his friends close to Christmas when his mother calls. Rick’s step-father, Art, had suffered from an apparent stroke and she needed him.

Rick wasn’t real happy, but he’d be a bad son if he didn’t go to his mom at this time. He plans to stay for only the weekend, but his mother, needs him to work in their bookstore. It is Black Friday, the day the store comes out of the red and into the black.

Andrea is part time help, but due to Art’s illness is stepping up to do more at the store. She can tell that Rick is overwhelmed by the store and everything that is happening. Rick’s mother continues to need him, so he stays longer, but as Christmas nears, Rick’s old life beckon, the hurt from his past loom, and his decisions will determine more than where he spends Christmas Eve.

I fell in love with Mr. Walsh’s writings, when I read his debut novel, The Unfinished Gift, and REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS didn’t disappoint. The writing style draws me into the story and I want to find out everything about the colorful characters that fill the pages of this book.

If you are looking for a great Christmas story to read this holiday season, then REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS is one you’ll want to pick up. A note from the author is included at the end of the book. $15.99 hardcover. 263 pages.

I loved this book! Of course, coming from the Daytona Beach area didn't hurt either! The Book Nook was a very familiar place as were a lot of the places mentioned in the book, even though some names were changed. I loved how the story developed and left the reader with a good feeling at the end of the book. Can't wait to read something else by this author!
