Buried Beneath the Words

Betel Arnold Buried Beneath the Words

Book info and Review
About the book:

Words! Words! Words!

Words all over the place. Accusing, blaming, and degrading words are the worst of all. After hearing those words over and over again, we begin to feel the weight of them threatening to crush the very life out of us.
Buried Beneath the Words cleverly shares a true life story about the different ways someone can end up buried beneath the weight of negative words. Then it shares a Christian course for how God's word can revive us. By putting the advice given within these pages into practice, you will experience an awakening of the real you---the you that has been buried way too long.

My thoughts: There is a very valuable lesson in BURIED BENEATH THE WORDS and it's one that everybody should read. We all had negative things said about is. "Fat." "Ugly." "Stupid." "The weak link." Substitute your own adjective. We need to learn to control our tongues. To not spew out poison when (insert name) gets on your last nerve and you snap. Supported with scripture and with questions to think about, this is a book to study and to learn from either individually or as a group.

Okay, this is where it gets hard. As an author, I know the power of hurtful reviews too. And I don't want to hurt the author. The writing is rather simplistic-- which initially bothered me, but it would be easy to understand by people of all education levels. The tone is conversational, making it easy to read. However, and  this was my big issue, as a very conservative Christian, I found all the "soft" swear words offensive. OMG is still taking the Lord's name in vain, it just isn't saying the words.

If you hear hurtful words about yourself, then you need this book. If you hurt your husband, children, coworkers with your tongue, you need this book. Also recommended for  Christian counselors and pastors who counsel.  3 stars.

Why oh why do Christian authors need to use swear words in their novels? OMG is the same thing as typing out the complete words. Sadly SMH over this!

Thanks Laura for your honest reviews!

Blessings!
