Thanks so much for allowing me to visit your blog! Today I wanted to talk about Project Linus (http://www.projectlinus.org), a big part of this story and a wonderful organization that we are supporting through the release of Anna’s Healing.

In my story, a young woman is tragically injured in an accident. When she finds herself a paraplegic she first goes through denial, then anger, and finally depression. She knows that God has a plan for her life, but she couldn’t imagine what it is. She can’t see it from the view of her wheelchair. It’s only when she becomes involved with Project Linus that we see Anna’s self-worth rise. Suddenly she’s able to do something for others, and by doing that—she’s able to take her focus off herself. Even from the place of her disability she is able to be the hands of Christ.

Although we don’t all suffer from catastrophic injuries, I think many of us have been in that place where we wonder how we can be a blessing to someone else. Sometimes we don’t realize the value of a small thing—a smile, a hug, sharing a meal, or even taking a walk together. But all of these things add up to one big thing. They show that we care.

One way we can show we care is through supporting organizations such as Project Linus. PL has donated 5 million blankets since 1998, all handmade with love. Some are crocheted, some are quilted, and some are no-sew blankets. What matters is that the gift is handmade and that it goes to a child in need.

I hope that you enjoy Anna’s Healing—a powerful story of faith and God’s love for us. If you choose to purchase it through Amazon smile, a portion of each sale will go to PL. Also, I’m happy to give away a copy of Anna’s Healing to someone who comments below. Just tell us a simple way someone has brightened your day.

Blessings,
Vannetta Chapman

That sounds like a book everyone needs to read. Who hasn't found themselves bogged down in self-pity over something.

It always brightens my day when I get a text message and a picture of one or more of my far-away grandchildren greets me when I open the text.

My day was brightened today when I was able to rescue my grandson's lost soccer ball and later took he and his three siblings to a Fall Festival at Sweet Frog. I sent pics to my daughter of what her kids were doing and she texted back, "You are an awesome Grammie." That sure made my day!

Project Linus sounds like a warm and wonderful way to show love. I crochet with the Prayer Shawl Ministry of my church, providing prayed-upon shawls and lap blankets for anyone going through a hard time. They are lovingly bestowed upon the person as a reminder that the church is mindful of their difficulty and is praying for them.

A hug from either of my grandsons makes my day brighter. I also love getting messages from my daughter with a cartoon or comment to just make me smile. Love both your books and those of my friend Laura.

Yesterday my husband & I went out to dinner with our 3 children, 2 daughter in laws, and 4 grandchildren. The occasion was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Our kids, in a combined effort with their spouses and the grandchildren, gabe us two very sentimental gifts that we will treasure forever. First they gave us a gorgeous frame that was inscribed and had a picture from our wedding day. Then in addition to that they gave us wonderfully crafted scrapbook filled with letters not only from them but from other family members and close friends too, telling us how much they loved us and especially from our children how they felt our parenting had helped them become the parents, spouses & persons that they were now. It was more than I could have ever dreamed of as a gift from my children, their spouses and the grandchildren. It was the MOST SPECIAL & most heart warming gift I have ever received. While my husband & I were sitting there looking at the scrapbook one of my grandsons who is 7 (he is actually a twin) had been sitting next to me, and I got rather emotional, happy tears of course & my grandson Nolan reached over and started patting me on the back. We sat there for a good 10 to 15 minutes looking at the scrapbook and at the picture, and the whole time Nolan kept up, his precious little hand patting me the whole time. I periodically turned and smiled at him, and he gave me this smile, this little all-knowing smile from a seven year old, like he was saying "I know Grammy, you're just really really happy and we are too"' Yes that definitely made me smile and I haven't stopped since.

It brightens my day to help others. Honestly, something so simple as opening a door for a mom with children or giving my time to someone, really brightens my day. I'm not really good at recieving, but better at giving I guess.

My days get brighter just hearing from my children or when my piglets and goats decide to do silly stunts. So much fun!
