So Not Happening

Bella Kirkwood had a dream life. She was a member of the A-list at her prestigious private school, a dad who gave her unlimited use of his credit card, and NYC in her backyard. But then, Bella’s father, a plastic surgeon, decided to trade Bella’s mother in for a newer model.

When Bella’s mom meets and marries a man she meets on-line—an Oklahoma factory worker—Bella’s life turns upside down. Suddenly, she’s step-sister to two bratty boys, she moves to Truman, Oklahoma, and her dad takes away the credit card!

At least some people in school are pretty cool. Especially the hunky football player who invites her to lunch. But before long, Bella smells something rotten in the town of Truman. And it isn’t the cow pasture. How can a girl go on when her charmed life is gone and God appears to be giving her the total smackdown?

I’ve read all of Jenny B Jones’ youth fiction, and I enjoyed reading them all. SO NOT HAPPENING is the first book in Ms. Jones’ A CHARMED LIFE series, and I am seriously looking forward to reading book two, I’m So Sure which is next on my to-read pile.

Bella, despite coming from an affluent background, is a totally realistic character that I couldn’t help but fall in love with. She is real, witty, and delightfully sarcastic. I laughed out loud as I read this book, and there were even some heartbreaking parts that almost made me cry. SO NOT HAPPENING is a wonderful book for young adults. My fourteen year old is anxiously waiting for me to write the final word on this review so she can grab the book and start reading it. She loves Ms. Jones’ books too. Look for SO NOT HAPPENING at your favorite family bookstore or online at www.amazon.com. $12.99. 326 pages.
