Amie Reynolds woke up on her wedding to find a note from her fiancé that he left the country. With the engagement and wedding off, the constant parade of sympathetic platitudes made it impossible to forget she’d been jilted. Needing an escape, she moved to her aunt’s lake house for the summer.

Drew Sullivan’s return to Jasper Lake one hot summer day had everyone talking, but he wasn’t giving answers. His plans didn’t include romance, but neither did they include Amie Sullivan. Fortunately for him, he’d learned to be flexible.

Romance blooms, but when Amie discovers Drew’s secret, will the trust between them be irrevocably broken?

My thoughts:  NOT THIS TIME AROUND could’ve benefited from a good critique  partner. At one point Drew is talking to his sister, Dena, and she is referred to as Amie the entire time. And other issues that I won’t mention stood out.

Writing errors aside, it was a good and interesting story. I enjoyed getting to know Amie and Drew, old lovers finding themselves as new loves. I was a bit concerned that both fell in love less than ten weeks after breaking up with their former ex – which could be considered on the rebound. This wasn't addressed.

I haven’t read anything else by this author, and contrary to my initial opinion of her being unpublished before this she does have several other books out. The story did move along steadily, and while it felt a bit contrived at times, it was a good read.

Please note: this is a significantly revised edition from that which appeared in the Whispers of Love collection.  *** Reviewer note:  I read the version that appeared in the Whispers of Love collection. Not the free-standing one.

In case you are interested in the collection (which is how I bought it and the version of the story I read)
