Marrying him is her only choice to save her family, but Josiah Richardson isn’t at all the man she expected.

Katherine William’s family was left destitute when their home was burned to the ground by Yankee soldiers, so the ready solution presented by the prominent Mr. Josiah Richardson seems almost too good to believe. He’ll provide a home, work for her pa, and a new beginning for her family...if only Katherine will accept his proposal. A marriage of convenience is the last thing she wants, but there doesn’t seem to be a better option for her family or herself. Setting aside her dreams of love, Katherine agrees to the arrangement.

The gentleman in Josiah Richardson can no more force his frightened bride into his bed, than he can force her into loving him, so he sets out to gently woo her. He works hard to befriend her, to earn her trust and win her love.

Katherine is pleasantly surprised to find herself drawn to the man she thought she would never love, until an unexpected friendship tears apart all they’ve worked for. Where once the promise of love had budded between Josiah and Katherine, now they wonder what to do with their so-called marriage. Is love strong enough to weave its healing power through two broken hearts?

Marilyn's thoughts:  Katherine’s Arrangement is a winning and emotional story line. It captured my heart from the time I commenced reading till the final sentence. The characters had flaws, hidden secrets and so much to overcome after the Civil War. Katherine accepted an arrangement her pa had made with Josiah more for the benefit of her struggling family. She was beautiful but wanted nothing to do with marrying a stranger let alone being with a man after all she had endured.

The challenges Katherine and Josiah endured were more than he had anticipated but he was determined to win her love and friendship. The arrival of his business partner on his ranch only increased the trials, misunderstandings and unexpected happenings gave way to more drama and action than anticipated. This resulted with Josiah being aloof and isolating himself from the main house inflicting more pain and rejection to Katherine. Confrontation of characters with Katherine’s Pa gave way to others seeing an inner peace he had found with his past of losing loved ones, his farm and hidden sin. The faith element Turner wove into this Christian historical romance was gentle with characters living their lives filled with love for others no matter their stubbornness, action or words. I am grateful for beautiful ending Turner created as individuals found only God could heal their brokenness from sin, fill their heart with love and give them more than they ever dreamed.

I really appreciated how Delilah, Josiah’s colored employee who had birthed him and was paid a normal wage, was instrumental in showing and bringing God’s love, grace, hope, peace and mercy to the lives around her.

I received a complimentary ARC e-book from the author and was under no obligation to write a positive review. I have shared my own opinion. I look forward to reading more books by Turner in the future.
