Back to Life

Title: BACK TO LIFE
Author: Kristin Billerbeck
Publisher: Avon Inspire
2008
ISBN: 978-0-06-137877-5
Genre: Inspirational/women’s fiction

Lindsay Brindle was made to be a trophy wife. She realized that since Ron was so much older than her that he’d see Heaven before she does, but she didn’t expect to be widowed at thirty-five. Now Ron’s been gone a year, and Lindsay can’t seem to get past the pain.

The last thing she expects is for Ron’s first wife, Jane, to show up at Lindsay’s front door with a cat. Ron had made Jane the executor of his will, and she’s been in Mexico and out of reach up until now. But there are other surprises…including a son that Lindsay never knew existed.

Lindsay and Jane have nothing in common except they’ve been married to the same man. Can these two get past the awkwardness, get past mistakes, and form a friendship?

BACK TO LIFE is the second book in Ms. Billerbeck’s The Trophy Wife Club series, and it easily stands alone. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Lindsay and Jane, and the sometimes humorous situations that they found themselves in. Ms. Billerbeck is a stellar story teller.

I loved seeing Jane, used to the mountains and realness of Mexico, struggle to fit into the concrete jungle. Sometimes her thoughts about situations seemed to mirror my own. California is a whole different world than any of the cities/towns I’ve ever lived. The faith message is not preachy. The characters are well developed, even the secondary characters. I especially loved Jane and Lindsay’s neighbor, Cherry. Don’t miss this book. Discussion questions are included at the end. $12.95. 260 pages.
