Title: DARING CHLOE
Author: Laura Jensen Walker
Genre: Inspirational/women’s fiction
Chloe Adams’ is just hours away from her dream wedding to Chris, when she receives a text message from him—breaking up. Almost virtually dumped at the wedding, Chloe isn’t quite sure how to cope, until her fun-loving Aunt Tess suggests that Chloe goes on the honeymoon, with Tess, and Chloe’s best friend, Becca. After all, Chloe had paid for the romantic cruise. No reason not to take it.
Forced out of her comfort zone on the cruise is just the beginning. Her reading club friends decide that they need to start living adventures from their books instead of just reading about them. One adventure follows another as Chloe’s friends try to force her out of her post-dumping funk, and book-geek Chloe soon finds herself hiking, sailing, river rafting, and trying exotic food. Will this help Chloe to take the biggest step of all?
DARING CHLOE is an adorable story about a girl who lives through the pages of books, being forced to face life head-on, and take risks she would never dream of doing otherwise. Chloe is deliciously real, and her cast of friends is very well developed.
The faith message is expertly woven in, and the settings are almost real enough to be seen. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Chloe, and being a book-aholic myself, I could relate to her in many ways. I hope that Ms. Walker has a sequel planned for this book, because I would love to see how certain things develop. The book wasn’t neatly tied up at the end, so there is no real sense of closure. Don’t miss DARING CHLOE. It will warm your heart. $14.99. 332 pages.
