Face of Betrayal

Title: FACE OF BETRAYAL
Author: Lis Wiehl with April Henry
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
2009
ISBN: 978-1-59554-705-7
Genre: Inspirational/suspense

Katie is seventeen years old, smart, and a Senate page. Her dreams are to become a senator—eventually. But when Katie goes home over Christmas break, she takes her dog out for a walk, and doesn’t return.

Reporter Cassidy Shaw is the first to break the story. And soon the FBI is on the case. Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce and FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges are working to solve the disappearance of the girl. The three women have been lifelong friends, and call themselves “The Triple Threat.” Authorities believe the Katie might have run away, or been kidnapped, but the theories shatter when Nicole discovers Katie’s blog. They reveal a relationship with a mysterious man…possibly married. Possibly a Senator.

The FBI and the three friends race against time to find Katie alive. But leads are few. And the case is becoming increasingly personal.

FACE OF BETRAYAL is the first book I’ve read by either of these authors, but I am totally impressed. By the middle of the book I thought I had the case solved, but in reality I was not even close. I am totally impressed with this writing team’s ability to produce a page turning suspense novel…one of the best I’ve read this year.

Don’t miss FACE OF BETRAYAL. An excerpt from their next novel (available in 2010) is included in the back of the book, as well as discussion questions and an interview with the author. This is really an awesome book. $24.99 hardcover. 284 pages. Laura V. Hilton
