Title: IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES

April 2009
ISBN: 978-1-60142-024-4
Genre: Inspirational/women’s fiction

Kinna has always loved Jimmy, ever since they were young children playing on the beach. Jimmy was the son of the town drunk, and Kinna the daughter of a rich pastor, but that didn’t stop Kinna from befriending Jimmy. But now things have changed. She and Jimmy have been married for years and now Kinna wants a baby. But she’s barren. Infertile. And she’s put them in debt with all the fertility treatments that she’s taken.

When Kinna takes a walk on the sea, she finds a locket eerily similar to her own, then she hears someone cry for help, and then discovers it’s a woman, drowning. Kinna rescues the woman, little knowing that everything will change and nothing will ever be the same.

Who is the mysterious woman named Thea that Kinna rescues? Will Kenna grasp the one final hope, the last chance, to follow, not her dreams, but God’s plan.

Marlo Schalesky has penned another winner with IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES. I had the privilege of reviewing two of her previous books, Only the Wind Remembers, and Veil of Fire and found them unforgettable, and among my all time favorite books, so I was excited to get the chance to review IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES.

IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES is a different sort of book from the previous two books of Ms. Schalesky’s that I’ve read, but it is still very excellent. The writing is tight, and interesting, keeping the pages, turning, and I couldn’t help but relate to Jimmy and Kinna even when I wanted to knock their heads together and tell them to start listening to each other! And Thea—she was a wonderful character with her own point of view, that I couldn’t help but fall in love with.

Don’t miss IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES. It is a wonderful book with a mysterious locket, wonderful characters and a powerfully told story. Discussion questions and a sample chapter of Marlo Schalesky’s next novel (available in the Spring of 2010 is included at the end of the book. $12.99. 339 pages.
