THE FIRST EASTER EVER is simply written for beginning readers. It
has a comic book feel, with Jesus kind of portrayed as a superhero in the
illustrations. The story also felt rather clinical, a simple repeating of the
facts, and just the facts, ma’am. No blood was illustrated, but some of the
pictures were rather violent, too. That is real, and powder-puffed from
reality, but some of more sensitive children might be disturbed by the images.
My daughters both enjoyed reading
through this and reading the Bible story. Would be perfect for a baby gift, or
for a beginning reader, or to pick up a copy now for next year’s Easter basket
for your favorite little one.
