My thoughts: THROUGH WATERS DEEP is a fantastic book!  I loved how Jim slowly became enchanted with and fell in love with Mary. It felt realistic. I also could identify with how Mary felt so uncomfortable in the limelight. While I never had a traumatic experience as she did, it is something I struggle with as well.  I also loved how Jim worked on her to draw her out of her shell.  A hint of suspense, a war underway, and there is plenty of tension to go around.
