Interview with Susan Karsten and #giveaway!!!!

Today we welcome Susan Karsten to my blog. Susan is very graciously offering an ebook of her new story, A Match for Melissa. To enter leave contact information

Glad to have you here, Susan. Tell us about A Match for Melissa.

Melissa Southwood’s wealthy merchant father desires her to marry into the aristocracy, and he arranges for an aristocrat to court her. Melissa submits to the plan, but retains the right of final refusal. Another nobleman who learned of her fine qualities from some mutual friends, also belatedly throws his hat into the ring.

A shocking event throws all into question. Traumatized by abduction, will she be able to grasp true love?

Is there one particular message or “moral of the story” you hope readers walk away with?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and He will direct your path. (Proverbs 3:5)

What one question would you like us to ask your readers?

I’d love to hear the answer to “What is the most unexpected blessing in your life?

Tell us about the giveaway you’re offering.

I am offering one e-book of A Match for Melissa which releases on July 7, 2017.

How did A Match for Melissa get started?

I started writing it in 2011, wanting to try my hand at writing a Regency romance, written from a Christian perspective.

Tell us about your research process.

My research mostly involved extensive reading in the genre, with a few extra forays to check facts and particular details. And isn’t that what we love about historical fiction? Learning while we enjoy a page-turner.

What impact did your research have on you personally?

Researching the time period gave me even more appreciation for the English Regency period, and even more fascination with it.

How do you see yourself in your character’s story, if at all?

If I had to pick someone like me, I’d say it would be a combination of Melissa and Aunt Lucy Banting. Young and old, wise and innocent.

While you were writing A Match for Melissa, do you think it mattered where the book was set?

Since Regency fiction, is pretty much always based in England, yes!

Susan Karsten lives in a small Wisconsin town, is the wife of a real estate broker and mother of three. Her hobbies include fitness, quilting, and reading.

Her love for writing developed while in college where she earned a BS degree in Home Economics (Apparel Design & Manufacturing), with a minor in Speech.

With child-rearing days at an end, Susan now invests time in fiction writing. With three contracted Regency historical romances, a humorous chapter book, and a cozy mystery complete, she is working on a Regency novella.  Her personal blog can be found at Graciouswoman.wordpress.com.

A new author to me, but the message of your story being Proverbs 3:5 is one of my favorite. One of the most unexpected blessing in my life, beside the gift of God's love, was being blessed with a job with the agency contacting me about the position when I was working part-time. So a full time position in my professional. Thank you for the giveaway and interview.

Regency is my fav!!!! I would love to win. I think one of my most unexpected blessings has been the lifelong friendships forged through blogging. I've been at it 10 years and have met some of the kindest, most compassionate women I know. Quite a few have become friends outside of this arena. We are sisters-in-Christ and prayer warriors for one another!

You book sounds wonderful. Love Wisconsin, also. The Dells are so beautiful and the rolling hills with the dairy farms look so peaceful.
