Guest Post by Naomi Miller

If you had asked me five years ago where I saw myself in five years, I could never have imagined that I would be writing Amish cozy mysteries and a children's book series about a stray tabby who adopted our family.

Five years ago this November, when my daughter challenged me to participate in NaNoWriMo, I planned to write a sweet, little romance, which surprised me halfway through by taking a direction I never saw coming. . .

I did complete the challenge that year, writing 53,000 words of an Amish suspense novel. However, before I could edit, finish, and submit the novel to any agencies, God laid on my heart to write something else—something unique.

An Amish Cozy Mystery. But not just any cozy mystery. . . one without murder, drugs, or any of the terrible actions that we read about in the newspaper or watch on the news. None of the horror people deal with in real life, and written about in stories.

Instead, God prompted me to write a sweet story that, although it has a few sad moments, is one that brings a smile and leaves the reader with a warm feeling. This series, known as the Amish Sweet Shop Mystery series, promotes family, faith, friendship, forgiveness and grace.

People of all ages seem to love it! I've heard from women—and men—in their sixties and seventies, as well as children as young as ten years old, who loved reading Blueberry Cupcake Mystery. . . and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

While writing book four, Pumpkin Pie Mystery, God prompted me to begin another series. This one is specifically for children, although my beta readers loved the first two stories and encouraged me to continue writing more stories in the series.

This series is about Sophie, our tabby cat, who appeared one day when my grandson was sitting on the steps outside our apartment. He was having a rough time and we had been praying to God to please help him find some joy in his life. Sophie was God's reply. God really does work in mysterious ways!

SOPHIE IS A KITTEN WHO FOUND TWO CHILDREN . . . AND DECIDED TO ADOPT THEM AS HER OWN

This is the story of how a sweet, shy kitten found two children and decided they would be her new family.

Read along with Sammy and Macy as they tell the story of finding a little lost kitten, naming her, loving her, and making her part of their (or rather, becoming her own) family.

Exciting, Naomi! So would this series be interesting to a twelve-year old girl? And appropriate? Thanks.
