Escape into a riveting story based on the mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke.
Author Shannon McNear portrays history with vivid authenticity.
In 1587, Elinor White Dare sailed from England heavy with her first child but full of hopes. Her father, a renowned artist and experienced traveler, has convinced her and her bricklayer husband Ananias to make the journey to the New World. Land, they are promised, more goodly and beautiful than they can ever imagine. But nothing goes as planned from landing at the wrong location, to facing starvation, to the endless wait for help to arrive. And, beyond her comprehension, Elinor finds herself utterly alone. . . .
The colony at Roanoke disappeared into the shadows of history. But, what if one survived to leave a lasting legacy?
Elinor by Shannon McNear is a gripping story filled with
plenty of historical events added to the fictional telling in this Christian
Historical story. It’s amazing the time the author had to spend in research to
write this compelling tale based on the Lost Colony of Roanoke. This is evident
with all the extras at the end of the story.
Elinor will transport readers to 1587 and beyond. Elinor and
Ananias Dare set sail at the persuasion of her father, John White, to travel to
the New World that he had traveled to and documented with paintings and
writings. There were plenty of ups and downs, pain, death, misunderstandings
and disappoints, but Elinor’s faith kept her going. The way Native Americans
viewed the new arrivals with some accepting and others taking vengeance. The
characteristics of Elinor was magnificent portrayed with vivid thoughts,
actions and prayers throughout the tale. There’s a weaving of scriptural
passages Elinor and others used along with sharing the message of Biblical
truths to the Natives.
