Forgotten by B J Bassett #Devotional #SundayThoughts

“I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you.” Hebrews 13:5-6 MSG

My daughter Melanie recently told me about an incident I did not remember. She was in kindergarten and got out earlier from school than her sisters did. One day, after all the children were picked up by their parents, Melanie was left standing in front of the school. Her teacher left her alone to go inside the office to call me.

Melanie stood anxiously waiting, running her fingers over and over her school paper, causing a paper cut. “Mom, that’s when you tore into the parking lot in the old blue station wagon.”

I don’t remember why I was late picking her up from school that day. I understand how she must have felt forgotten and abandoned.

Because we make mistakes, parents aren’t perfect. The only perfect parent is God. He never abandons His children. We are safe and secure in His love.

My Heavenly Father, I’m so grateful to You for never forgetting or abandoning me. You are my Rock, my Fortress, and my Shepherd. Amen.
