The American Patriot's Bible

Title: THE AMERICAN PATRIOT’S BIBLE
New King James Version
Edited by Dr. Richard G. Lee
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
2009
ISBN: 978-1-4185-4153-8
Genre: Bibles/NKJV/Study

I thought this Bible sounded interesting when I saw it listed on Thomas Nelson’s blogger page, so I thought I’d take advantage of it. After all, my daughter needed a new Bible, and history has always interested me. The combination made it even more appealing.

What I received wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. THE AMERICAN PATRIOT’S BIBLE is not a Bible that one would tote to church—unless they were planning on knocking someone over the head with it. It is huge, heavy, and more of a coffee table Bible than one that would be used in a daily basis.

And while some of the information about the American Patriots was interesting, I was completely and totally turned off by mention of some men who by no stretch of the imagination could be called either patriots or Christian.

All in all, this Bible, to me, was a huge disappointment. However, if you are a teacher of History in a Christian school, or if you like to bring out some historical (or not so historical, in some cases) facts during your Sunday School lesson, or if you just like to know your history and your Bible for your own person study, then THE AMERICAN PATRIOT’S BIBLE would be one to consider.

To quote the back cover, THE AMERICAN PATRIOT’S BIBLE connects the teachings of the Bible, the history of the United States, and the life of every American. Beautiful full-color insert pages spotlight the people and events that demonstrate the godly qualities that have made America great. $39.99 hard cover. Laura V. Hilton

Hi Laura!
An author friend, Ann Shorey, saw your review of my newest book, San Francisco Smugglers, on Afictionado the other day. Thanks so much for the great review! I so appreciate it. May I use parts of it as the situation arises, with your credit, of course?

Say, is there any way the cover could be changed to match the actual review? For some reason, they posted the cover for Dangerous Decision on your review. :-)

Susan, I'll ask Mike - I don't know how to change them. :)

Keep me in mind for all your future books. :)
