Blue Heart Blessed

Title: BLUE HEART BLESSED
Author: Susan Meissner
Publisher: Harvest House Publishers
2008
ISBN: 978-0-7369-1917-3
Genre: Inspirational/chick lit/women’s fiction

Daisy Murien is fascinated with wedding dresses. As a child, she spent hours designing wedding gowns for paper dolls. And now, despite the fact that her fiancĂ© broke their engagement a mere ten days before the wedding, Daisy has opened her own store—a shop to sell second-hand wedding dresses. And her own wedding dress is sometimes for sale…and sometimes, not.

As Daisy slowly works her way through her grief, she finds an unusual confidante in Father Laurent, a retired Episcopal priest, who volunteered to bless the tiny blue satin hearts Daisy sews into all her wedding dresses. She hopes that knowing the stories behind each gown, and knowing the dress has been blessed with encourage new brides.

Daisy doesn’t accept every gown that is presented to her, only select ones are purchased for resale in the boutique. But some dresses can be salvaged. As Daisy works through her gown selection, and makes some sales, will she grow enough to let her gown go, and trust God to know what is best for her?

BLUE HEART BLESSED is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Meissner, but I hope it won’t be the last. I requested this book off www.paperbackswap.com because I wanted to read it, and it wasn’t sent to me to review. But this book is too good not to review. It is a wonderful story about unconditional love and waiting for God’s timing.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading BLUE HEART BLESSED and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good read. Daisy is real, a woman most of us can identify with, and it is a pleasure to watch God at work in her life. Don’t miss this book, available at your favorite family bookstore, or at www.amazon.com. $12.99. 277 pages.
