Bezalel is a Hebrew slave working in the palace as an artisan, crafting statues and jewelry for Ramses. He happens to be there when Moses and Aaron come to the palace, and witnesses firsthand the rod turning into a snake and eating the magician’s snakes. He also meets a young concubine named Meri, and falls in love with her, but she is a member of Pharoah’s harem.
As Moses and Aaron keeps coming, Bezalel goes from doubting in Yahweh, to knowing for certain that He was in control and would save His people. Bezalel didn’t know how though. He also knew that he wanted to somehow save Meri and the captain of the Pharoah’s army who happens to be sympathetic to the Hebrews and seems to be coming to believe that Yahweh is the one true God.
But will Bezalel be able to save those he loves? Or will he lose them as God works His mighty miracles in the different, horrific plaques that befall Egypt ?
IN THE SHADOW OF SINAI is the debut novel by talented author, Carole Towriss. I was spellbound as I read her gripping descriptions of the palace, and life back in those days, the slaves, the royalty, and the reactions to the plagues that both sides had. IN THE SHADOW OF SINAI is absolutely riveting and I couldn’t put it down. I had to find out what happened with Bezalel and some of the other characters. I can’t wait for more books by this talented author. If you like biblical fiction, you won’t want to miss IN THE SHADOW OF SINAI. 289 pages. $13.99 paperback, or $3.99 ebook.
