It is 1937 and Lucy Turnbull knows better than to ask for a
pony this Christmas. Her mother is taking in laundry and opened their home as a
boarding house, but times are tough. No one goes through their small town in
the winter. But when Lucy walks to town one Saturday to do the shopping, she
sees a car broken down with a fancy woman standing beside it. When she talks to
them, she learns that the woman is a movie-star wannabe, and that she and
George are traveling to Hollywood .
Lucy offers them a room in her mother’s boarding house, thankful that she
provided boarders for her mother.
But Lucy’s mother doesn’t seem at all thrilled about the
guests. She dislikes Veronica, and Lucy is convinced that Veronica is the most
beautiful woman alive. And George keeps getting in Mama’s way, making Mama
uncomfortable.
Things aren’t always as they seem and this pair of visitors
will cause Lucy’s world to change forever.
THE CHRISTMAS PONY is Ms. Carlson’s newest holiday release.
I look forward to her Christmas stories every year and so I was excited when I got
the opportunity to review this book for her. I thoroughly enjoyed THE CHRISTMAS
PONY, and my sixteen year old daughter who read it before I got a chance loved
it, too. My ten year old daughter is waiting for her turn to read it now. This
is a holiday story that will be treasured and reread for years to come. A sweet
romance is included in the story. A beautifully done hardcover book perfect for
gift giving. The only things that would've made it better would've been a crackling fire in the fireplace, a cup of hot cocoa, and a good blizzard. $15.99 hardcover.169 pages.
