Hannah Baird doesn’t have time for distractions. Wanting to please her sick mother, she pays a man to pretend to be her boyfriend for Thanksgiving dinner. All she wanted was a date, but she ended up with a fiancé. What will she do when her mother is expecting a wedding and Hannah doesn’t want to let her down?

My thoughts:  THE MARRIAGE SCHEME sounded cute, so I took advantage of the buy for free offer I saw. This is kind of a comedy of errors, as in whatever could possibly go wrong would. The characters were constantly tripping over each other.

Hannah was rude, to the point of being hateful. I did feel bad because of her mother having cancer but other than wanting to bring home her "boyfriend" to make mama happy and donating a kidney she almost didn't seem to care about anything other than her studies.  She was a nerd and didn't know how to relate to others.

Simon was a clutz, working on his doctorate, and he was smitten by the red-head and tripping all over himself, making himself into a fool for her. I did like the way he openly talked about his faith and tried to take care of her and her mom. He was sweet.

Both characters professed to be Christian, but she wouldn't talk about her faith, though he did.  For the more conservative reader, both characters drink alcoholic beverages, and one bad word is used. The whole relationship is also based on lies and deceiving each other and their family.

Over all, an okay read. A bit cheesy, and I wouldn't read it again, but if you like books like this you might enjoy THE MARRIAGE SCHEME.

Again, I bought it on Amazon when it was offered free.  I was not required to leave a review. All opinions are my own.
