by Linsey Davis (Author),
Lucy Fleming (Illustrator)
Age Range: 4 - 8 years
What do you get when you combine ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis’ lyrical rhymes with Lucy Fleming’s whimsical art? A culture-rich picture book that proudly showcases the beauty of diversity while celebrating all the wonderful things we have in common.
From skin, hair, and eyes in a multitude of colors to different personalities and interests, God gave us all special traits and characteristics that make us uniquely ourselves. And we all have things in common too: like sharing fun and laughter on the playground, a sense of curiosity, big feelings, and so many other things that show how we are all more alike than we are different.
Ready to celebrate all our likes and differences? So are we! And this diverse picture book—drenched in color and full of laughter and fun—will show you how.
One Big Heart is:
- Written by Emmy-winning ABC News correspondent and The World Is Awake author Linsey Davis
- A multiethnic, multicultural, multiracial children’s picture book that recognizes our unique differences while celebrating how alike we are as well
- An inspiring story of inclusion and connection
- The perfect read-aloud for kids ages 4–8
My thoughts: ONE BIG HEART is a children's book that celebrates diversity and will show children why everyone is different from hair texture to eye color to skin, to likes and dislikes. It also shares that you can still be friends and show love to someone different than you.
This book would be good for a child starting preschool for the first time to show that while we may all be different but we are alike in many big ways. It also stresses the need to be kind.
.The religious message feels more than a little forced.
Recommended for preschool children attending an actual preschool, not a homeschool.

From Instagram sensation Steve Greig and New York Times bestselling author Mary Rand Hess comes this humorous, heartwarming story about Greig’s real-life menagerie of senior rescue animals that affirms, in a family, everyone belongs.
What makes a family? Is it sharing favorite foods, cuddling up for snuggle time, loving each other no matter what you look like in the morning?
For Steve Greig’s oddly wonderful, real-life family of senior dogs, chickens, rabbits, and a pig named Bikini, family is all those things and then some! And this lovable bunch is now starring in their very first children’s book that showcases the importance of family.
Meet the Wolfgang, a loveable bunch of animals belonging to Steve and each other. Greig looked for the most “unadoptable” animals and gave them a home … his home! Strange and unique, The One and Only Wolfgang will remind readers that no matter how old or how odd, everyone has a place where they belong.

My thoughts: THE ONE & ONLY WOLFGANG is a cute story about a bunch of senior dogs and other unadoptable animals rescued from certain death who live together in one big happy family. It stresses the importance of loving no matter what and embracing individual differences.
This is a cute funny book that actually made me laugh at times.
There is no faith message so suitable for the general market, Recommended for animal lovers anywhere, no matter of age and even for senior citizens in homes.
