If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you
catch your breath. Psalm 34:18 MSG
I have a talented friend. Although she never boasts, I will. A former high school English teacher,
she taught in the United States and Korea. She owns a successful rock shop business, which
includes a gallery and a museum. She sews and creates jewelry and mosaics. And she’s an
author.
She takes a broken piece of tile from a massive pile of discarded pieces and designs it
into a lovely piece of art. Not unlike what God does with broken people.
When something is broken, it is no longer functional. That’s when we need the touch of
God’s hand. I’m reminded of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs:
Heartaches, broken pieces
Ruined lives are why you died on Calvary
Your touch is what I long for
You have given life to me.
Are you broken? Do you know someone who is hurting? We all need a touch from the
Master Healer.
Creator God, touch all the broken people, I pray. Amen.
