Created to Create
When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.
Genesis 5:1 RSV
There are so many creative people. I met a
leatherworker the other day. With small tools, she creates intricate designs,
making wallets, purses, and even cowboy boots. She begins by dampening a piece
of leather. Then, with various tools, she designs a pattern on the leather.
God not only created us. He also saved us for His
purpose for us to do good works, not only in our creative endeavors. Not as if
we’re on a stage performing to glorify self—look at me. Look at all the great
things I’ve made, the great things I’ve done. But to bring Him glory in music,
literature, crafts, and teaching. There are endless ways to glorify Him.
Are we honoring God in all we do?
Father, thank You for creating me in Your image. Whatever
I’ve made or done, may it not puff me up but only bring glory and honor to You.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
