Genre: Inspirational/historical romance

Marguerite Westing’s father has made the announcement that the lake is the place to see and be seen this summer. It is the hot spot for all the rich folk in the area. So the servants load up the tents, the beds, party clothes, and other miscellaneous items, and off they go.

Unfortunately, the man Marguerite’s mother plans that Marguerite will marry also makes routine appearances at the lake, and Marguerite doesn’t know how to tell him no, she won’t marry him. Instead, she flaunts convention and arranges to take sailing lessons by acting as her younger brother’s chaperone.

When Marguerite finds herself further intrigued by her brother’s sailing instructor, Trip Andrews, the summer of fun threatens to turn into a summer of turmoil.

MAKING WAVES is the debut novel by Lorna Seilstad, and it is a winner. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know spunky heroine, Marguerite, and her family. The action was nonstop from start to finish, making this a book I was able to read in two days.

I couldn’t believe how people camped back in the 1890’s. All the comforts of home, that would be enough to make even people who didn’t like camping want to go. Plus there were plenty of activities in the water, on the water, and on the dock, with dances nightly.

If you are looking for a good historical to read, then MAKING WAVES will be an excellent choice. $14.99. 359 pages.
