Title: LIFE WITH LILY
Authors: Mary Ann Kinsinger and Suzanne Woods Fisher
Lily Lapp is five years old and growing up on a small Amish farm in upstate
New York. She has a four year old brother, Joseph, and her mother just had a new baby, Dannie. Lily helps to plant the garden, thrills over a new cow and chickens given to her mama for Christmas and worries when her brother tries to fly and breaks an arm.
Lily thinks she knows everything at five years old, after all, she’s the big sister, but she still has lots to discover—such as the creature with a bushy tail hiding in the barn isn’t really a kitten and even though neighbors seem gruff, there are nice things to be said about them.
Tween girls will love this new series starring Lily, watching and learning with her what it is like to grow up on an Amish farm.
LIFE WITH LILY is the first book of four written about Lily. My ten year old daughter snagged it the day it came in the mail and read it start to finish in two days. The review, in my daughter’s words: Lily is very mischievous and she’s very fun and she does a lot of silly things, but she tries to keep out of trouble.
My daughter enjoyed the book very much and says she’s putting this book on her keeper shelf. Pick up copy of LIFE WITH LILY for your favorite tweener today.
As an adult, I didn't find much of a plot or storyline, it was just a collection of stories. Charming for children, or for those who want to know what an Amish child does. $12.99. 288 pages.
