Kurt Benson is at it again, only this time with his cousin Josh as his mystery-solving sidekick. When an unexpected family tragedy launches the boys into a full-blown investigation, they quickly find themselves in more danger than they could ever have imagined. But Kurt’s love for his grandfather urges him on in his quest for the truth—and in his efforts to save his grandparents’ farm. Will an old grandfather clock and a very special model airplane unlock the mystery before it’s too late?
My thoughts: First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, THE SECRET OF GRANDMOTHER'S GRANDFATHER CLOCK is the third book in this series, but readers do not need to read The Cat Burglars or Funny Money first. This book stands alone.
When Kurt's grandfather died because he was scared, the family had to hurry to the old farm for a funeral. When they get there, Kurt and his cousin, Josh, discovered someone is buying up all the farms at ridiculously low prices and the farmers are scared, but since all the original deeds seem to have gone missing, they can't prove ownership.
Sadly, Kurt's grandfather's farm is among those who lost their titles and the county court house doesn't seem to have any record or proof they do own it! But grandfather had left a rather cryptic message when he died and it is up to Kurt to solve it and see what grandfather hid.
Mr. Anderson writes exciting books geared for tween boys who are reluctant readers and I will vouch for his books as he is the one who caught my son's interest in the written word. If you have tween boys who don't like to read, try one of Mr. Anderson's books. THE SECRET OF GRANDMOTHER'S GRANDFATHER CLOCK is a good one.
