FATAL BOUNTY
When former Treasure Point police officer Kelsey Jackson witnesses a murder while temporarily back in her hometown, the killer is dead set on silencing her. The antiques insurance agent didn't see enough to know who killed the museum's curator…but she plans to find out. And the only person offering to assist in her investigation is Sawyer Hamilton—the last man Kelsey ever thought she'd rely on. The handsome marine biologist was once Kelsey's biggest rival, but now he's determined to make up for the past by protecting her. And when the clues lead to shipwrecks and treasure, Sawyer will risk everything to keep Kelsey out of the hands of modern-day pirates.

My thoughts: First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, PERILOUS HOMECOMING is an engaging, different sort of Love Inspired Suspense. I loved the fact that it didn't seem to follow the normal path. Yes, the heroine was constantly under attack, but she (Kelsey) was a museum historian/assessor and the hero, Sawyer is a business man/marine biologist.

Granted, Kelsey is a former police officer. There were some things wrong (law enforcement call every one by last name, not just the women) and she should've known not to destroy evidence, but yet she did, several times. Touching and crumpling notes from the killer and hiding them in a ball in your fist would pretty much obliterate any chance of getting finger prints. I did guess who the killer was but not why and that totally surprised me, a great twist at the end of the book.

This is my first book by Sarah Varland and I hope it won't be the last. I enjoyed getting to know Sawyer. Totally loved him. Kelsey was prickly and it took awhile, but I grew to like her too.

If you like romantic suspense, don't miss PERILOUS HOMECOMING.
