A few years ago, on Valentine’s
Day, I allowed my own feelings on the day to inspire a new book. I wrote it
with no thought to where it might get publish. As it turned out my editor at
Heartsong Presents needed a book to fill an unexpected vacancy, and since my
book was finished, and she liked it, I sold the book. Unfortunately, the
imprint closed soon after the release of that book, so I didn’t write a sequel.
Jump forward to January 2017. I received
the rights back on all of my Heartsong Presents books, and I wanted to re-publish
my Valentine’s book before February fourteenth. I re-titled the book A Love Song for Kayla, and I had a new
cover made. I re-published the book February first. Then something I hadn’t
considered happened—people started asking when the sequel would release.
I didn’t want to disappoint readers,
so I wrote the story I had mulled over as I was writing the first book. In A Love Song for Kayla we meet A-list
actress Estelle Rogers. She had such a strong personality I knew she needed her
own book.
An
Encore for Estelle takes places six years after A Love Song for Kayla. A lot has changed in Estelle’s life since we
first met her. She left Hollywood behind when the acting parts stopped coming
her way, and she opened her own restaurant.
Here’s a teaser for the book.
A former A-list
actress seeks to redeem herself in the most unlikely of places—a children’s
theater. The writer/director didn’t anticipate a famous actress would ever show
interest in his musical much less him. Will their pasts pull them apart or join
them together?
My passion for the
arts inspired this series. Book one features music, book two
acting, and book three will feature dance. I’m a musician and taught piano for
eighteen years. I was also a singer at one time and received a college music
scholarship. My dream was to be a famous singer one day, but that was long
before we had shows like The Voice or American Idol. That dream was never
realized. From sixth grade to my junior year in high school I took ballet and
loved it.
There you have it,
the story behind the story. What is your passion?
