Cleopatra and Ancient Egypt for Kids is a resource for early elementary students
(suggested ages are 4 – 7) and
tweens to learn about ancient Egypt and the last ruler, Cleopatra.
At times, Cleopatra and Ancient Egypt for Kids is
on the dark side with lots of deaths and suicides mentioned so I suggest a
parent read it with the child or at least stay nearby to answer questions.
Cleopatra and Ancient Egypt for Kids includes maps, time lines, online resources
(for older kids), a glossary, and 21 hands-on activities to help children
better understand the ancient culture and era.
Some of the activities
included are:
> Create a beaded
Egyptian-style necklace
> Build a simple Nile
River Boat
> Prepare homemade
yogurt
> “Mummify” a hotdog
> And more!
Personally, I think Cleopatra and Ancient Egypt for Kids is
too advanced for most four-year-olds, and I would suggest it is more suitable
for tweens and younger teens. Some adults might be interested in it as a
starting off study, too. It would be easy to take this book much deeper if you
read the suggested resources and reference books suggested.
