Garrett has saved Rebecca before -- will he need to do so again? A mercantile owner’s daughter hopes to begin her life anew in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A gifted craftsman wishes to leave his father's lumber camp in Mackinaw City and seeks employment at her new store. When his presence dredges up memories she wishes to suppress, the proprietress must learn to face her past and open her heart. When complications arise, will they overcome adversity and welcome healing, and love, into their lives? Is there another place of healing for them, in the Straits of Mackinac?

My thoughts: THE LUMBERJACKS' BALL is the second book in Ms. Pagel's Christy Lumber Camp series and it does stand-alone. It has been many years since I read the first book The Gingerbread Challenge. If you like reading series in order start there.

I love that this book is set in my beloved Michigan, but not only that but in the Upper Peninsula which is seriously God's country. So lovely there. We just got back from visiting my Coastie son up there and spent a day in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City.  I could feel the breeze, smell the air, and see everything she wrote about.

The story itself is sweet, innocent, clean fiction with a good faith message. The story itself is simplistic without the heavier layering of threads as bigger houses are fond of, but it is good for a pleasant few hours read. I enjoyed getting to know Garrett, and once Rebecca loosened up, her, too.

If you like historical romances, don't miss THE LUMBERJACKS' BALL.

I am a verified buyer of this book. No review was required and all opinions are my own.
