For fans of holiday romances and Amish life comes a new Christmas tale of surprising expectations and discovering miracles.
Old Order Amish Ivy Zook is wrestling with her need to shed her community's ways so she can grow the business of her dreams: planning parties. As long as she's stuck living without modernization, she can barely get her business on its feet. But if she leaves too soon, she'd cause trouble for her sister, Holly, who is planning her wedding to Joshua Smucker. All of their plans become twice as complicated when an old car crashes into the storefront of Greene's Pharmacy, carrying a Swartzentruber (ultra-conservative sect) Amish man, Arlan, and his very ill sister.
The Zooks take in Arlan and Madga, tending to the woman's illness and Arlan begins helping around the family farm. Ivy and Arlan are on different tracks, one wanting to leave her community and the other to return to his. But both young people are trying to discover what God has in store for their futures and what miracles might lie around the corner this Christmas season.

My thoughts (Reviewed by Marilyn): A Christmas
Haven is a beautiful story bringing the meaning of Christmas to lives that were
struggling. This book is really a sequel to The Amish Remedy that will provide
so much more to the readers the impact Greene’s Pharmacy and Holly and Josh’s
romance.
Arlan and Magda were siblings of the strict Amish Swartzentruber community and were running from their home due to the treatment Madga was receiving for her disgrace. An accident, an encounter with staff of the Greene’s Pharmacy and the Zook family brought moments of utter pain to rather pleasant conversations. The Zook family’s home with Emma, Holly and Ivy brought a true haven to the siblings. Ivy wasn’t happy with Arlan encouraging her mother to increase their dairy herd as she was wanted to leave. Ivy leading the caroling for her Amish community brought perspective to the meaning of Christmas through a song “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming.”. Could Arlan and Ivy assist one another in discovering who they truly were despite their upbringing in different beliefs and rules as they shared their inner secrets? I would like to see another story by the Woodsmalls to see how Red, Madga and rest of the characters are doing in another year.
I borrowed this book from the library, thus a
review was not required. I have shared my own opinion. .
