Overload
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 NIV
Our lives are jammed with family, work, obligations, and activities. We run from one thing to the
next without enough rest before the next day’s hectic routine begins again.
Nervous breakdowns are rampant, suicides are up, and pharmacies sell tranquilizers by the
truckload; when we deplete our spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, and time reserves, we’ll pay
for it in one way or another.
God’s plan is not for us to live on overload. His example is to rest from our work, Genesis
2:3. He offers us rest. Will we accept his rest and make some changes in our lives? Or will we
continue to live on overload?
Heavenly Father, help me live a balanced life of work and rest, just as You planned. Help me learn to say no to on more thing that will overload my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
