Title: PEDIGREED BLOODLINES
Author: Sandra Robbins
Publisher: Heartsong Presents Mysteries
2008
ISBN: 978-1-59789-602-3
Genre: Inspirational/cozy mystery

Leigh Dennison has finally landed a date with the guy of her dreams, but her dream date ends disastrously when she returns home to find her dear friend, Addie Jordan, has been murdered. Leigh is devastated, and everyone is suspect, including the guy she went out with. Now, Leigh is the proud owner of Addie’s champion show-dog kennels, even though Leigh knows next to nothing about show dogs, and the two men that Addie employed are both people of interest in Addie’s murder investigation.

Content to leave the investigation in the police’s hands, Leigh doesn’t know quite what to think when clue after clue falls into her lap. As someone who can’t even remember to add soap to the washing machine, none of the clues make much sense. A homeless Vietnam veteran is found with Addie’s most prized possession. A Cherokee highschool drop out has run off with Addie’s truck. A rival kennel is insisting Leigh sell out. And the man that Leigh is falling in love with has come into a bit of money to help his ailing parents. Did he kill Addie in a blotched robbery?

PEDIGREED BLOODLINES is a fun read that I was looking forward to reading for quite sometime. It didn’t disappoint, and I am looking forward to reading the second and third stories in the Leigh Dennison Mystery series.

The faith message is expertly woven in, and Leigh really struggles with learning the faith lesson she needs to master, but toward the end of the book she starts making strides with it. I really liked Leigh a lot, she is loveable, smart, and yet so very flawed. I didn’t care as much for the hero, but maybe because he wasn’t as well developed as Leigh. Depending on the secondary characters, some were well-rounded, others weren’t.
I didn’t guess who-dun-it until near the end of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading PEDIGREED BLOODLINES and am looking forward to reading more by this talented author. $6.95. 246 pages
