About the book:
The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible brings to life more than 40 Bible stories that help readers understand that God’s Spirit has been with us since the beginning of time and continues to be with us today. From the glory of creation through the powerful letters of Paul, God’s Spirit is living in his people. Old and New Testament stories such as Adam and Eve, Abraham, Joseph, the Baptism of Jesus, and Pentecost come alive with dramatic illustrations by Fernando Juarez and moving text by Doris Rikkers. With a cover that sparkles and shines with foil, this is a special storybook Bible that will appeal to both children and parents alike.
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139: 7–10

My thoughts: THE SPIRIT OF GOD ILLUSTRATED BIBLE is not a Bible so much as it is a storybook with Bible stories.  The scripture references are mostly NIV so they read differently than the KJV - and the KJV only crowd will want to be aware of that.

The stories themselves tell about some of the times when the Spirit of God moved and people were able to act, think or say the way God intended, for awhile at least. For example when King David wanted to build a house for God and God told the prophet to allow his son to do it, David listened. It also has not so good stories like when King Josiah didn't want to listen to the Spirit of God and allowed his men to stone the prophet, killing him. This is not normally a Bible story taught in Sunday School and might frighten some children.

The artist used cartoonish characters to appeal to the video game/cartoon crowd but for children (and adults) who like more real looking people, this is a negative.

All in all, if you are looking for a Bible story book and don't mind what translation is used then this might be a book to consider. But for the more conservative bunch, no. Look further.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

So many new illustrated Bibles for children. I prefer KJV along with more realistic pictures instead of cartoons telling Biblical stories of God's spirit.
